Enabling Two-Factor Authentication

Last updated on Oct 06, 2023

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA or 2-step authentication) adds an extra layer of security to your account. It requires you to enter a verification code generated on your smartphone in addition to the email ID and password while logging in. This blocks unauthorized access even if your password is compromised.

Prerequisites

Configuring Two Factor Authentication

  1. Click the drop-down next to your username in the User Info Panel.

  2. Click Account.

  3. In the left navigation pane, click Two Factor Authentication.

  4. In the Two Factor Authentication page, click ENABLE.

    Click Enable

  5. Scan the QR code displayed in the SET UP TWO FACTOR AUTHENTICATION dialog box using the Google Authenticator app or any other equivalent app on your smartphone.

  6. Enter the verification code generated by your smartphone in Hevo. This displays a set of recovery codes.

  7. Download and save the recovery codes for future reference. These help you to gain access to your Hevo account if you lose your smartphone.

As a team owner, you can also enforce two factor authentication across your team.

Downloading Recovery Codes

Once Two-Factor Authentication is enabled, Recovery Codes become available for downloading directly via the Hevo app.

If you do not have your smartphone with you while logging in to Hevo and cannot retrieve the verification code, you can instead provide one of the recovery codes to successfully gain access. You can regenerate these codes at any time.

Note: Currently, social login such as login via Facebook and Google are not supported if you have enabled two-factor authentication for your account.

To download the recovery codes:

  1. Click the drop-down next to your username in the User Info Panel.

  2. Click Account.

  3. In the left navigation pane, click Two Factor Authentication.

  4. In the Two Factor Authentication page, under Recovery Codes, click View Codes.

  5. Click the COPY or DOWNLOAD link to save the codes to your device.

To disable Two Factor Authentication:

  1. Click the drop-down next to your username in the User Info Panel.

  2. Click Account.

  3. In the left navigation pane, click Two Factor Authentication.

  4. Click the DISABLE button next to Two Factor Authentication.
