Hevo aligns all billing cycles across customer accounts to start at 12:00 AM (UTC) following the end of a trial or a change in subscription. This prevents overlapping invoices, especially when changes occur mid-day, and provides clear, predictable billing. The table below outlines how Hevo manages billing across different scenarios:

Scenario Hevo Behavior Example Grace Period
Subscribing Before Trial Ends Trial continues uninterrupted. Paid subscription begins at 12:00 AM (UTC) the day after the trial ends. If your trial starts on June 1, 2025, at 3:00 PM and ends on June 14, 2025, at 3:00 PM, and you subscribe on June 10, your billing cycle starts on June 15, 2025, at 12:00 AM. Yes, from the trial end time until the billing start time. The usage during this time is not charged.
Subscribing After Trial Ends Billing begins at 12:00 AM (UTC) the day after the subscription is activated. If your trial ends on June 14, 2025, and you subscribe on June 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM, your billing cycle starts on June 16, 2025, at 12:00 AM. Yes, from the subscription time until the billing start time. The usage during this time is not charged.
Changing Billing Frequency (such as Monthly to Yearly) - Current subscription is canceled.
- A prorated credit is issued for unused time and applied to the next invoice.
- A new subscription starts at 12:00 AM (UTC) on the day after the change.
- The credit is applied to the new invoice.
If your monthly billing starts on June 5, 2025, at 3:00 PM, and you switch to a yearly plan on June 19, 2025, at 4:00 PM, your new cycle begins June 20, 2025, at 12:00 AM. Yes, from the time of the change until the new billing start time. The usage during this time is not charged.
Subscribing via Marketplace (AWS, GCP) - Billing follows the marketplace expiration timestamp.
- Marketplace manages frequency changes and invoices.
- If canceled, usage is metered until the expiration timestamp; Events after expiry are sidelined.
Not applicable No, the marketplace sets exact billing times.
