2026 Releases
- Early Access New
PagerDuty is an incident management platform that engineering and operations teams use to detect and respond to incidents, manage on-call schedules and escalations, and analyze how their teams respond to incidents.
Hevo uses the PagerDuty REST API to replicate the incidents, services, on-call schedules, escalation policies, teams, users, audit records, and incident analytics of your PagerDuty account to the Destination of your choice. To ingest data, you must provide Hevo with an API key of your PagerDuty account.
Supported Features
| Feature Name | Supported |
|---|---|
| Capture deletes | Yes |
| History mode | No |
| Custom data (user-configured tables & fields) | No |
| Data blocking (skip objects and fields) | Yes |
| Resync (objects and Pipelines) | Yes |
| API configurable | Yes |
Prerequisites
-
An active PagerDuty account from which data is to be ingested.
-
The Admin or Account Owner role in your PagerDuty account to create an API key.
-
An API key of your PagerDuty account is available.
Obtain the API Key
Hevo connects to your PagerDuty account using a REST API key, also called an API access key. A read-only API key is sufficient for Hevo to ingest all the objects except User Delegation. To ingest the User Delegation object, you must create an API key with full access. PagerDuty displays the API key only once, when you create it.
Perform the following steps to obtain the API key:
-
Log in to your PagerDuty account.
-
In the top navigation bar, click Integrations, and then under DEVELOPER TOOLS, click API Access Keys.

-
On the API Access Keys page, click + Create New API Key.

-
In the Create API Key dialog, do the following:

-
Specify a Description for the API key. For example, Hevo Pipeline.
-
Select the Read-only API Key check box. If you want to ingest the User Delegation object, do not select this check box.
-
Click Create Key.
-
-
In the New API Key dialog, click the copy icon next to the API key to copy it, save it securely like any other password, and then click Close.

Configure PagerDuty as a Source in your Pipeline
Perform the following steps to configure your PagerDuty Source:
-
Click Pipelines in the Navigation Bar.
-
Click + Create Pipeline in the Pipelines List View.
-
On the Select Source Type page, select PagerDuty.
-
On the Select Destination Type page, select the type of Destination you want to use.
-
In the Configure Source screen, specify the following:

-
Source Name: A unique name for your Source, not exceeding 255 characters. For example, PagerDuty Source.
-
In the Connect to PagerDuty section, specify the following:
- API Key: The API key that you obtained from PagerDuty.
-
-
Click Test & Continue to test the connection to your PagerDuty Source. Once the test is successful, you can proceed to set up your Destination.
Data Replication
Hevo replicates data for all the objects selected on the Configure Objects page during Pipeline creation. By default, all supported objects and their available fields are selected. However, you can modify this selection while creating or editing the Pipeline. To ingest a child object, you must also select its parent object. For example, to ingest the Incident Notes object, you must also select the Incidents object. The Data Model lists the child objects of each parent object.
Hevo replicates data in the following ways:
-
Historical data: In the first run of the Pipeline, Hevo ingests the existing data of the selected objects. For the following objects, PagerDuty returns only recent data, so Hevo ingests the data of a limited period:
Object Period of Historical Data Analytics All Services Metrics The last 364 days Audit Records The last 30 days Oncalls The last 89 days Paused Incident Report Alerts The last 179 days -
Incremental data: In each subsequent run, as per the sync frequency:
-
For the Incidents object, Hevo ingests the incidents created since the last run. To capture the changes made to recent incidents, such as acknowledgements and resolutions, Hevo also re-ingests the incidents created in the last seven days.
-
For the Analytics Raw Incidents object, Hevo ingests the incidents updated since the last run and re-ingests the incidents updated in the last day.
-
For the Change Events, Log Entries, and Notifications objects, Hevo ingests the records created since the last run and re-ingests the records of the last day.
-
For the Analytics All Services Metrics object, Hevo ingests the daily metrics since the last run and re-ingests the metrics of the last ingested day.
-
For the Audit Records, Oncalls, and Paused Incident Report Alerts objects, Hevo ingests the records since the last run.
-
For all other objects, Hevo ingests the entire data of the object.
-
You can resync all the objects except the child objects. Resyncing a parent object also resyncs its child objects.
PagerDuty limits each API key to 960 REST API requests per minute. Requests that exceed this limit are rejected by PagerDuty with an error. Read Rate Limits — REST API.
Note: You can create a Pipeline with this Source only using the Merge load mode. The Append mode is not supported for this Source.
Schema and Primary Keys
Hevo uses the following schema to upload the records in the Destination. For a detailed view of the objects, fields, and relationships, click the ERD.

Handling of Deletes
Hevo captures deletes by comparing the data ingested from the Source with the data present in the Destination in each run. How Hevo handles a deleted record depends on the object:
-
Addons, Business Services, Escalation Policies, Event Orchestrations, Extension Schemas, Extensions, Incident Workflows, Licenses, Maintenance Windows, Schedules, Services, Tags, Teams, Templates, Users, Vendors, and their child objects, except Service Scheduled Actions: If a record exists in the Destination but is no longer returned by the Source, Hevo marks it as deleted by setting the value of the metadata column __hevo__marked_deleted to True. The record remains in the Destination with all its data.
-
Service Scheduled Actions: Hevo replaces the scheduled actions of each service in every run. A scheduled action that is no longer returned by the Source is removed from the Destination.
-
Child objects of Analytics Raw Incidents, Change Events, Incidents, and Log Entries: Each time Hevo ingests a parent record, it replaces the child records of that parent record. A child record that is no longer returned by the Source, such as a team removed from an incident, is removed from the Destination.
-
All other objects: Hevo does not capture deletes for these objects.
Source Considerations
-
PagerDuty displays the API key only once, when you create it. If you lose the API key, you must create a new one in PagerDuty and update it in the configuration of your Source.
-
PagerDuty does not allow read-only API keys to access the OAuth delegations of users. If you use a read-only API key, Hevo does not ingest any data for the User Delegation object. To ingest this object, use an API key with full access.
-
PagerDuty processes the data of the Analytics All Services Metrics and Analytics Raw Incidents objects periodically, and makes it available generally within 24 hours of an incident. Hence, recent incidents may not be present in these objects until PagerDuty processes them.
-
Hevo re-ingests only the incidents created in the last seven days. If an incident that was created earlier is updated, for example, if it is resolved, Hevo does not ingest the update. To ingest the latest data of such incidents, resync the Incidents object.
Limitations
- Hevo does not ingest the alerts, priorities, rulesets, status pages, status dashboards, or webhook subscriptions of your PagerDuty account.
